Founded as Union Woodworks in 1971, WallGoldfinger is celebrating its 35th Anniversary this year. The company has evolved from a small local woodworking shop that did furniture refinishing, house construction, wood stove pattern making, and kitchen cabinets. Today, WallGoldfinger is a leading designer and manufacturer of high-end, custom corporate furniture.
The company combines the finest veneers and hardwood lumber, granite and marble, stainless steel and bronze, and leather and glass into their furniture. The products
that originate in the old Nantanna Mill in Northfield, Vermont find their eventual homes in the skyscrapers of Manhattan, elite educational institutions, and corporate
headquarters throughout the United States. Many of the important decisions of our time are made around WallGoldfinger tables. Members of the Federal Reserve, The International Monetary Fund, The United Nations, The Environmental Protection Agency, and the New York Stock Exchange gather at WallGoldfinger boardroom tables.
WallGoldfinger has grown steadily from 2 employees in 1976, to 42 employees in 2006. The original shop, a rudimentary 2,000 square foot facility, has expanded
steadily into a professionally equipped 52,000 square foot factory. The equipment has grown in complexity: state-of-the-art finish application, computer controlled routing, and sophisticated wood machining and sanding systems. The latest advancement is a $300,000 custom manufactured sanding system manufactured in Italy; the first
of its kind in the Northeast.
WallGoldfinger places a premium on developing the technological skill and cross-training of employees. Many of the employees at WallGoldfinger have had two, three or
four distinct positions at the company. The company is currently working with the Vermont Training Program to further develop employee skills. Many of the
staff at WallGoldfinger has a hands-on understanding of how to build quality furniture. Sales and Marketing staff, Project Managers, Illustrators, CAD Operators,
Drafters, Estimators, Shop Foreman, and Veneer Foreman all started on the shop floor as woodworker.
The company’s market territory has expanded from its original Vermont base of residential furniture, to corporate furniture sold throughout most of the
continental United States. A small portion of its work is sold overseas. WallGoldfinger currently maintains a showroom in Manhattan, and is represented by seven independent sales representatives.
